💌 Inside This Week’s After Party - Edition #6

This week, we’re focusing on unapologetic ambition—owning your goals and daring to dream bigger. Plus, we’re featuring Jenn Drummond, the world record holder who conquered the Seven Second Summits. It’s time to claim your power and chase those bold dreams!

🍾 Opening Toast

From the desk (more like dance floor!) of Robyn Cohen:

"To the women who want more — and own it."

In a world that often asks women to shrink, to fit into neat, predictable boxes, there is power in wanting more.

More doesn’t mean greed or selfishness. It means embracing your true potential, pursuing your dreams unapologetically, and building the life you deserve — without asking for permission.

For too long, women have been told that ambition is a dirty word. We’ve been taught that being hungry for success, desiring more recognition, or wanting to climb higher is somehow too much.

But here’s the truth: Ambition is not a flaw. It’s the fire that propels us forward.

There have been countless moments in my life when being unapologetically ambitious led me to take bold steps.

I’ve moved to foreign cities, started initiatives, and leapt toward my goals without looking back.

I remember wanting to go to university in Montreal. During my second year, my parents couldn’t afford my books or housing, so I took matters into my own hands, working almost full-time to support myself and continue my education.

Then there was the time when I was living back home in Toronto, feeling unfulfilled and bored, that I packed my bags with my green card and $1,000 USD in savings, and moved to New York City, never looking back.

And when my husband’s work took us to Brazil, I saw an opportunity to start my own English teaching business and simultaneously launch Girls On It, a community for women founders and executives, the only one of its kind at the time.

These are just a few of the moments when I took the leap without overthinking it — driven by ambition, fearlessly moving forward toward my goal.

But, I’ve also faced times when my ambition was met with resistance. There have been times when I was pushed out of an initiative or let go from a job because my ambition was seen as a threat.

I was especially surprised when it came from other women, because you would think that they would be inspired, rather than threatened, by another woman chasing her dreams.

In my mind, women need to be unapologetically ambitious in order to reach their dreams, their goals, and the levels of success they deserve.

Look at the incredible women who have shaped history:

  • Sara Blakely wouldn’t have founded Spanx and created a patent for her design if she didn’t possess an extraordinary level of ambition.

  • Oprah wouldn’t be where she is today without her boundless ambition.

  • Melanie Perkins wouldn’t have built Canva into a $37 billion-dollar design powerhouse if she didn’t have that drive.

So, I raise a glass to ambition. Never apologize for it. Dream big, take risks, and move fearlessly toward the life you envision for yourself. You deserve it..đŸ„‚

💣 Truth Bomb

Too often, ambition is seen as a form of ego or self-centeredness, something that should be suppressed or dialed down.

But let me tell you: that narrative is so outdated.

The truth is, ambition is a declaration of independence. It’s a sovereign act, one that empowers you to take control of your own destiny.

When you step into your ambition, you aren’t just pursuing personal gain; you are redefining what’s possible for women everywhere. You are creating opportunities not just for yourself but for everyone who comes after you.

The key is understanding that your ambition does not diminish anyone else’s. There’s enough space at the top for all of us. When women rise, they bring others with them, whether by mentorship, creating jobs, or inspiring others to dream bigger.

In fact, the more you grow, the more others can see what’s possible, and that’s the magic of ambition.

So let go of the guilt. Let go of the feeling that wanting more means you’re taking something away from someone else. Your ambition is a gift to the world. It’s a beacon for others to follow.

👀 ASK YOURSELF:

  • When was the last time you acted on your ambition without hesitation?

  • What bold move have you been putting off because you’ve felt it might be "too much"?

  • How can you embrace your ambition this week to move closer to your dream?

đŸ”„ THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE:

Take one bold step this week, no matter how small it feels. If there’s something you’ve been hesitating on — whether it’s pitching an idea, taking a new job opportunity, or simply putting yourself out there more — do it. Don’t wait for the “right moment” or the “perfect time.” Let this week be the week you move unapologetically forward toward your dream, no matter what.

Jenn Drummond — Mountaineer, Mother of 7, World-record holder

Jenn Drummond’s story is one of resilience, bold ambition, and an unrelenting pursuit of significance.

A life-changing car accident in 2018 left her with a new perspective on life. Rescue workers had little hope for her survival, but Jenn defied the odds, emerging from the wreckage stronger and more determined than ever.

This experience sparked a shift in her thinking: You don’t get to choose when your life ends, but you can choose how you live it.

Inspired by this newfound clarity, Jenn set out to live more authentically and adventurously.

It was on her 40th birthday that her son challenged her to take on Mount Everest, and with her fearless spirit, she accepted. But this was just the beginning.

During her training, her coach suggested something even bigger: to pursue a world record by becoming the first woman to climb the Seven Second Summits, the second-highest peaks on each of the seven continents. Without hesitation, Jenn took on this ambitious goal, and today, she holds the world record for completing it.

Jenn’s journey isn’t just about mountaineering. She’s a successful entrepreneur, author, international speaker, and a mother of seven. She is also the host of the Seek Your Next Summit podcast, where she shares stories of ambition, resilience, and personal growth.

Jenn’s mission is clear: to help others go beyond mere success and live lives of true significance.

Her journey proves that ambition isn’t just about reaching the top, it’s about embracing the climb, learning from every step, and using your achievements to lift others along the way.

Jenn’s story is a testament to the power of unapologetic ambition and the limitless possibilities that come when you boldly pursue your goals.
